Covington is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for technology. He
believes that the internet represents the forefront of innovation, making it
a revolutionary venue for another revolution – an African American economic
revolution. Covington’s entrepreneurial endeavors have fused his passions
for wealth-creation, technology, and the African American community.
Covington started Southeastern Consulting Group in
1994 to deliver technology and telecommunications services to a broad array
of businesses. In 2001, Covington started Next New Media. Next New Media
is an internet initiative, delivering state-specific content to African
Americans across the country. Through the development of Next New Media,
Covington positioned himself as an internet media mogul, with the mission of
creating a national network of state specific content based websites. The
network currently consists of the
www.blackmississippi.com website and soon to be launched
BlackAlabama.com, BlackGeorgia.com BlackArkansas.com, BlackTennessee.com and
BlackLouisiana.com properties.
Covington is currently executing a plan to add sixteen
additional states, with a similar mission, to this portfolio. Included in
this new state expansion is: Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina,
Virginia, Florida, Indiana, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland,
Massachusetts, Michigan, New Mexico Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and
Wisconsin.
iVision Marketing is Covington’s newest entrepreneurial
effort. iVision Marketing helps companies succeed on the web. With a
robust infrastructure, nascent talent, and a portfolio of more than fifty
web applications, iVision Marketing creates and markets online solutions for
a variety of clients. The success of iVision Marketing exemplifies the
opportunities available to African American entrepreneurs.
